October News

Well Autumn is well and truly here, but we have one final taste of the sun with the Harvest Auction at the Royal Oak on Saturday evening the 7 th Oct. It’s a great night’s entertainment which supports organisations that help make Church Eaton the special place it is. So come along, have a drink and a laugh and bid for some of the produce that has been so kindly donated. On Sunday, the 8 th after the 9.30am Harvest Festival service the Church is having a Harvest Celebration Breakfast in the Institute to which all are welcome.
There was another wedding reception in the Stute at the beginning of Sept. Jon and Zoe make a lovely couple. The hall was laid out with garlands of hops and country flowers. The caterers were very impressed with the kitchen facilities which is good to hear. Some concerns have been expressed that our neighbours were not notified about the firework display at the previous reception. We are very sorry if this has caused any problems and we will try to let people know in future via this newsletter and Facebook.
At last month’s market, there was a stall selling cupcakes which is a great addition to the range of goods on offer. Remember it’s not too early to start and buy the odd Christmas Present.
The numbers were a little down at the Coffee Morning, please come along and support us. It’s a great place to chat and meet friends. Where else can you buy a cup of freshly ground filter coffee and a delicious piece of homemade cake for £2?

September News

Over the summer we have seen the Institute used for another wedding reception and a christening party.

There are some really good photos of the reception on our face book page and again the hall looked fine dressed out in vintage style

The coffee mornings were well supported. Did you know it’s not just coffee and cake, there are always second-hand books and often plants, veg and a card stall

There have been a couple of good markets.  New to the event are Kitchen Essentials and savoury pies from Roly Poly Puddings

The Summer Bash on the School Playing Field raised over £1400 for groups within the village, well done to Ruth, Joise and all those who helped to make it such a good night.  Thank you very much  for our share

Looking forward we have another Wedding Reception on Sat 2nd September. Let’s hope it’s another sunny day. We all wish them well

We now have new windows in the kitchen. The builders and the painters have done a very neat job, the units are in keeping with the rest of the structure and enhance its looks.

The Institute garden is looking its best thanks to John and his wonderful planting.  The whole village is looking very colourful this year with house holders, the Pub, the School, the Church and the Stute all playing their part

July News

Another successful coffee morning in June, many thanks to all the people who donated plants for us to sell.  At the next coffee morning on 6th July there will be a short official unveiling ceremony of the Parish Memorial. The many positive comments from people associated with the village have been most welcome

The wedding of the new Mr and Mrs Harriman took place last month with the reception in our hall. Whoever dressed the room deserves a HIGHLY COMMENDED.

It looked like a banquet in the clouds. There are some great photos on our face book page. Why not become a friend and have a look.  You can also find out whats happened over the last few weeks and be kept up to date with whats coming up in the future.

The June market went well,  but we really need another cake stall.  The fee is only £3.00  for the morning,  so if you fancy giving it a go speak to Jenny Annis on 01785 824882 email jenny.annis@btinternet.com
